Glenburnie Livestock Report 05/08/20

Bullocks and yearlings remained similar to last week whilst dairy steers met stronger competition to sell 15-20c per kg dearer. All the usual buying group were present. The quality for bullocks and cows saw an improvement although the young cattle still remained very mixed. Feedlotters continued to have a strong presence.


BULLS:  Sold at 9am

A larger yarding of bulls sold to firm rates with heavy sound bulls making from 248-275c per kg.


Quotations:  Peucker Farms Her bull 275c 980kg $2695. BR Creek Sim bull 275c 955kg $2626. Fourwinds Sim bull 275c 940kg $2585.

245 bullocks yarded in a better quality yarding. Manufacturing dairy steers saw a lift in price whilst the best beef bullocks sold to 373c per kg mainly 350-362c per kg. Dairy steers to 300c per kg.


Quotations: Estate PR Caskey 41 SH bullocks made 365c per kg to average $2127. Reg Edwards & Son Mount Schank 10 Pol Her bullocks 352c $2464. B & A Durcan Kongorong 10 Frn steers 300c $1921. MW & MA Patzel Eight Mile Creek 9 Brown Swiss steers 298c $1932.  


YEARLING & VEALERS:    Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Peter Creek & Scott Miller.   

162 yearling and vealers yarded in a very mixed yarding. Feedlotters and restockers put a strong base in a very mixed yarding. Grassfed yearling heifers sold to 390c per kg, steers to 420c per kg but mainly 321-400c per kg.  


Quotations:  J Croser & Sons 11 SH heifers 334c $1850. Kongorong Holdings 11 Grassfed yearling heifers 361c $1788.  S Farrell Dairy x yearling steers 321c $1310. Donovan’s Dairy Frn heifers 290c $1921.


COWS:     Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Liam Durcan & Scott Miller.  

142 cows yarded.  The cow prices continued their strong run selling again over 300c per kg mark showing excellent returns for empty cows. Best beef cows topped at $315c per kg.


Quotations:  Jakero Holdings medium framed cows 2167c $1345. J Croser & Sons 26 SH cows 303c to average $1726.    


SHEEP & LAMBS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Scott Miller & Liam Durcan.

92 sheep and lambs sold, on par with last week. Difficult to quote the market on such a small yarding, although the pens presented carried good weights from 22-26kg which sold from $120 to $144. Local butcher and wholesale enquiry pushed these pens.
