Glenburnie Livestock Report 10/06/20

The short week due to Monday’s public holiday saw processors and feed lotters very keen to secure their share of numbers. The increase in competition saw prices rise 5-12c per kg across all classes. A slightly smaller yarding of 607 cattle came forward.


BULLS:  Sold at 9am Auctioneer Liam Durcan

A small yarding of bulls sold from 260-285c per kg.


Quotations:  V & K Peucker Hereford Bull 280c $3052. Peucker Farms Hereford bull 280c $2800.


HEAVY STEERS & BULLOCKS:     Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Andrew Whan & Liam Durcan.

A very strong sale with export buyers and feed lotters very active. The yarding consisted predominantly of heavy Beef steers and bullocks with very few Dairy x steers penned. Prices lifted 8-10c per kg on last week’s rates. Exporters paid 350-387 with feeders paying 350-390c per kg for suitable cattle. Heavy steers 360-387c per kg. Jap Ox 340-378c per kg. Dairy x Steers 260-338c per kg. 


Quotations: A very good quality offering, saw strong competition in the MWJ run. J Croser & Sons 34 Shorthorn ox topped at 378c $2355. Kongorong Holdings consignment realised 375c and 376c $2022. KJ & MJ Montford’s Her x steers 368c 564kg $2075. N & J Smith 31 Ang x steers 378c 555kg $2099. Heavy Ang ox A/c Castle Camps 355c 740kg $2635.


YEARLING & VEALERS:    Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Peter Creek & Scott Miller.

The young cattle were more mixed and lacked the quality of previous weeks. This did not deter the competition as process lifted across the board. An increase in the vealer numbers lifted prices saw steers 385-406c per kg and heifers 360-380c per kg. Yearling steers realised 380-410c per kg. Heavy heifers 330-365c per kg with trade heifers 340-385c per kg. 


Quotations:  J Croser & Sons Shorthorn heifers 350c 515kg $1802. DA & LF Firth Ang heifers 348c 470kg $1635. C. Fensom Frs heifers 300c 547kg $1642. J Croser & Sons offered a run of Shorthorn vealers. The steers 400c 421kg $1684 and heifers 380c 378kg $1438.


COWS:     Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Liam Durcan & Peter Creek.

Strong competition for all weights and classes of the cows saw prices lift up to 12c per kg. Quality was very good with better numbers for buyers to compete on. Medium/heavy beef cows 260-306c per kg. Light cows 200-255c per kg.


Quotations:  An outstanding run of cows, in the MWJ run. V & K Peucker 20 her cows 300c $2077. JG & CK Clarke’s Ang cows 306c 755kg $2310. RI & JM Telford Ang cows 306c 657kg $2011. DA & LF Firth Ang cows 300c 577kg $1732.


SHEEP & LAMBS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Scott Miller & Liam Durcan.

1560 sheep and lambs sold, 840 more than last week.  An improved quality yarding with some excellent pens of heavy export lambs. Trade lambs sold to solid competition while restockers were quite absent. The best heavy lambs 26-30kg sold from $226 to $250 being $5 to $8 dearer and the 24-26kg lambs were $210 to $221. Well rounded trade lambs from 20 to 24kg sold strongly from $183 to $208. 18-20kg trade lambs were $150 to $170. Lighter wholesale and restocking types were $62 to $140.


Quotations:  Reg Edwards & Son 25 lambs $234. JL & NS Fartch 120 lambs from $221 to $226. SN & BM Fisher 20 lambs $224. Miller Past Co 23 lambs from $198 to $208. IW & SG Carr 71 lambs from $164 to $186. PC & SL Woolston 40 lambs $155. Carr & Fisher XB hoggets $170.
