Glenburnie Livestock Report 24/06/20

The last market of the financial year saw numbers remain firm at 693. The quality improved across all classes.  This and smaller yarding’s at other centres earlier in the week, all helped contribute to a much dearer sale. Prices improved 10-15c per kg with processors and feedlotters all competing strongly.

Competition was very strong, forcing prices up to 15c per kg dearer than last weeks dearer market. The few vealers penned sold from 385-430c per kg. The yearling cattle saw steers sell 370-425c per kg and trade heifers 370-418c per kg. Heavy heifers over 500kg realised 328-380c per kg.

A small but good quality run of cows with all weight classes on offer. Strong buyer interest saw cows fully firm to 15c per kg dearer with some of the highest prices seen for cows. Medium/heavy beef cows 280-328c per kg. Light beef cows 230-278c per kg.

Quotations:  M & M Patzel Her Frs x cows 303c 620kg $1878. Kongorong Holdings SH cows 304c 636kg $1936. RC & PJ Cowland Her x cows 290c 570kg $1653.

SHEEP & LAMBS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Scott Miller & Liam Durcan.

835 sheep and lambs sold, 171 more than last week. The small yarding still brought forward some excellent heavier lambs for the time of year. A major correction in the heavier lambs and one exporter present, but not operating saw 24-26kg lambs at $191 to $240 or $5 to $8 cheaper. Heavier trade lambs still sold to solid rates from $170 to $184 for 20-24kg. Lighter trade lambs 18-20kg were $159 to $167. Restockers had no opportunities due to the small yarding.

Quotations:  M & B Hamill 16 lambs at $215. A/c JL & NS Fartch 119 lambs from $190 to $198. RL Hancock and Sons 109 lambs from $175 to $187.
