Glenburnie Livestock Report 29/01/20

A large number of cattle came forward this week, seeing all classes increase. 1697 cattle were penned on the back of a rise in prices and the reports pf Northern rainfall. More heavy steers and bullocks were offered and these were of generally better quality. The young cattle lacked the quality of last week while all weights and grades were offered in the cow run.

A larger run of young cattle that was more mixed and without the top end quality of last week. The prices held fully firm especially allowing for the dropin quality. COWS:     Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Liam Durcan & Peter Creek

The cows did not follow the script of the other cattle classes, with prices easing 5-8c per kg. All weights and grades were presented. Medium/heavy beef cows 222-255c per kg, light beef cows 160-220c per kg.

SHEEP AND LAMBS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Scott Miller and Liam Durcan.

1413 sheep and lambs sold, 933 less than last week.  The smaller yarding didn’t damper the strong but small buyers group. While some buyers were absent this didn’t deter the enthusiasm of the buyer. Surprisingly restockers played no effect on the market. The best shorn export lambs were in short supply thus demand was stronger. Heavy lambs sold from $182 to $208 while extra heavies at 26-30kg plus were $213 to $223. Trade score shorn 3 lambs sold well from $160 to $186 with no deficient on woolies as buyers pushed every pen. Light trade lambs 16-18kg also enjoyed interest from $106 to $155. Very light 12-16kg shorn lambs were $56-$106.

Quotations:  A/c WK Earl 49 lambs from $143 to $200. A/c CC Patzel 47 mixed age Dor Ewes $230.
