Glenburnie Livestock Report 5/02/20

This week saw more quality prime bullocks yarded with prices lifting 8-10c per kg to top at 311c per kg. Feedlot activity was very strong in the young cattle market paying up to 332c per kg with prices surging 10-20c per kg on most classes of young cattle. Most fresh young vealers with weight sold over the 300c per kg mark, topping at 320c per kg. Cow market again met good competition with lighter chopper cows improving the most in price. Chopper cows mainly 150-210c per kg, medium framed cows 212-240c per kg and heavy beef cows 240-258c per kg.

 

BULLS:  Sold at 9am Auctioneer Liam Durcan

A larger yarding of bulls sold to stronger demand with heavy sound beef bulls lifting in prices 8-12c per kg selling from 230-275c per kg while the lighter dairy bulls remained unchanged making up to 188c per kg.

719 bullocks yarded with excellent pens of Angus bullocks selling to keen competition from export processors to sell 10c per kg dearer with more manufacturing Dairy x steers yarded selling to 260c per kg to be 10-15c per kg dearer.

711 yearling and vealers yarded with very strong feedlot competition which saw prices lift 10-20c per kg on all classes of you cattle. Vealers topped 320c per kg, yearling steers sold to 332c per kg and grass fed yearling heifers sold to 300c per kg.

635 cows yarded with strong demand seeing cow prices lifting 10-12c per kg. Light chopper cows 140-190c per kg, medium framed cows 210-240c per kg and heavy beef cows 240-258c per kg.

SHEEP AND LAMBS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Scott Miller and Liam Durcan.

2150 sheep and lambs sold, 737 more than last week.  The predominantly shorn yarding presented some extreme heavy lambs with medium to heavy trades lifting with the dearer market. Restockers and wholesalers re-emerged with light lambs selling to dearer rates. Exporters rewarded vendors with over 32kg shorn lambs from $235 to $248 being $8-10 dearer or at over $8.00 per kg, following strong interstate markets.  24-26kg shorn lambs were from $204 to $219 and 22-24kg at $188 to 200. Ideal trades 20-22kg sold from $177 to $182 with buyers rewarding the best pens. Restockers purchased up to $142, this providing a strong backbone in the trade section. Light lambs to the trade sold from $100 to $131. Best XB Ewes over 24kg dressed sold to strong competition from $160 to $186.
