Glenburnie Livestock Report 6/11/19

More numbers in a better quality yarding with rain and prices giving agents and vendors a lift in confidence.  A good representation of bullocks, grass fed yearlings and milk vealers came forward with quality generally very good with more cattle showing a spring finish.  Prices improved with bullocks selling 5 to 8c per kg dearer and grass fed yearling heifers 8 to 10c per kg dearer. The cow market remained solid with best cows to 250c per kg.

BULLS:  Sold at 9am by Auctioneer Liam Durcan

A smaller yarding of bulls sold to solid demand leaving prices unchanged from the previous week with heavy sound bulls making from 230-290c per kg.

Quotations: PF & BA Burchard Char bull topped the market selling at 290c 1165kg $3378.50.

399 bullocks yarded.  An improvement in quality met with an improvement in prices.  All bullocks sold 5 to 8c dearer.  More heavy weight bullocks yarded.  Dairy steers also sold to dearer trends topping at 265c per kg.

568 yearlings and vealers yarded.  A great improvement in quality in grass fed heifer yearlings as many pens showed a spring finish in prime conditions lifting in price by 5 to 6 cents, topping at 292c per kg.  More vealers yarded showing improvement in prices also topping at 320c.  Most steer vealers sold between 290-315c per kg.  Heifer vealers 275-290c per kg.

78 cows yarded in a solid sale.  Most prices remained fully firm.  Top young cows sold to 250c, mainly 228-245c per kg.

SHEEP AND LAMBS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Scott Miller and Liam Durcan.  

3598 sheep and lambs sold, 1307 more than last week.  A larger yarding of sucker lambs with a large field of buyers accompanied by a strong contingent of restockers.  Demand was very strong from all export, trade and wholesalers to the tune of $4 to $8 dearer.  Export lambs from 26 to 30kg sold from $196 to $227 while heavy trades 24 to 26kg were $179 to $195, with some excellent pens offered.  Trade lambs sold extremely well with buyers pushing every pen, 20 to 24kg selling from $156 to $170.  18 to 20kg medium trade lambs were from $147 to $158.  Lighter lambs at 12 to 16kg encountered strong interest from restockers who paid from $130 to $147.  Very small and immature lambs sold from $87 to $104.  Heavy rounded mutton also sold to extreme rates selling xb ewes from $150 to $170.
