Glenburnie Livestock Report

A much smaller yarding than last week of 864 came forward.  Those producers that yarded cattle were rewarded with prices fully firm to dearer with buyers competing strongly both in the young cattle and the bullocks.  The similar sized yarding of cows sold at fully firm rates.  MWJ yarded 323 cattle.

BULLS:  Sold at 9am by Auctioneer Liam Durcan

A smaller yarding of bulls sold to solid demand making from 215-290c per kg leaving prices unchanged from the previous week.

Quotations:  R & TR Paltridge Ang bull 280c 945kg $2646.  O Barr & W James Ang bull made 265c 900kg $2385.

BULLOCKS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Andrew Whan and Liam Durcan

A smaller run of bullocks overall, but the quality improved on last week.  The better quality saw more competition with buyers needing to lift their rates 4-7c per kg.  The best bullocks realised 310-321c per kg with manufacturing types 250-284c per kg and Frs steers 222-255c per kg.

Quotations:  The MWJ run was a credit to our vendors with numerous pens of spring finished Ang bullocks.  MWJ topped the market with Cyclone Trust’s 13 Ang ox 321c 726kg $2330.  Reg Edwards & Son again offered quality Ang ox 319c 709kg $2263.  GW Little, Tarpeena had two pens of Ang ox 317c 318kg topping at $2174.  Prime Her Sim x ox A/c KJ & MJ Mountford 318c 674kg $2144.

YOUNG CATTLE:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Peter Creek and Liam Durcan.   

The smaller yarding of young cattle was very mixed and without as many finished cattle as last week.  Well finished trade steers and heifers sold to much stronger competition to be 5-10c per kg dearer than last week.  Feedlots were active on both steers and heifers.  Trade steers 285-315c per kg, heavy heifers 265-292c per kg, trade heifers 268-292c per kg.

Quotations: Allan Crozier Char heifers 274c 560kg $1534.  JF & JL Kitschke Poll Her heifers 288c 520kg $1500 and 289c 472kg $1365.  Bask Trust MG/Ang x steers 288c 487kg $1403.

COWS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Liam Durcan and Andrew Whan.    

A fully firm cow market with all weights and grades offered.  Med/heavy beef cows 230-258c per kg, light beef cows 170-220c per kg, Frs cows 165-198c per kg.

Quotations:  A very good run of cows offered by our clients.  Allan Croziers Morgiana Char cows topped the MWJ run @ 255c 713kg $1818.  JF & JL Kitschke’s fattened Sim cows 252c 576kg $1452.  Patanga Past Co SH cows 236c 663kg $1564.

SHEEP AND LAMBS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Scott Miller and Liam Durcan.  

2291 lambs sold.  The first major yarding of sucker lambs commenced with a small but very active buyers gallery.  Export lambs 26 to 30kg sold from $194 to $220 and 24 to 26kg from $175 to $190.  The majority of the yarding were returning prices from $7.00 to $7.20 per kg.  Very fresh trade lambs from 18 to 22kg were $142 to $162.  Very light suckers 16 to 18kg were $129 to $148.

Quotations:  A/c Ardmore 100 lambs from $129 to $155.  A/c A Kirvan 28 Mo wth lambs, shorn $110.
