Glenburnie Market Report 11/09/2019

 

Prices rose across in all classes for the similar size yarding of 556 cattle. The usual field of buyers were keen to secure their share of the yarding. The increased competition saw all prices generally 4-8c per kg dearer with some dairy types being 8-10c per kg dearer.


 

BULLS:  Sold at 9am by Auctioneer Liam Durcan

 

A larger run 42 bulls sold to slightly easier demand with heavy sound beef bulls selling from 250-290c per kg.

156 Bullocks yarded with all weights and grades offered. Quality was good for the small yarding of finished bullocks. More manufacturing dairy steers yarded and sold to strong competition. Best heavy steers and bullocks topped 340c per kg mainly 325-335c per kg to be fully firm.

250 yearling and vealers yarded. The quality again was very mixed varying from prime trade young cattle to very plain dairy bred yearlings. The trade heifers received the biggest price lift at rates 265-305c per kg or 5-10c per kg better. Heavy export heifers over 500kg 255-275c per kg.

114 Cows yarded with mainly beef types. Most cows eased on the highs of last week with best beef cows selling to mainly 235-246c per kg.

SHEEP AND LAMBS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Scott Miller and Liam Durcan.  

103 sheep and lambs sold, same as last week. With the smaller markets buyers found it hard to purchase enough numbers. Strong competition from one wholesalers provided good returns though. Export lambs over 24kg with a short skin made over $200. Trade lambs from 18 to 22kg returned favourable results from $125 to $155.
