Glenburnie Market Report 28/11/18

This week saw an excellent yarding of 10580 lambs with prices dearer in a strong, solid sale.  Cattle prices remained fully firm for 2249 cattle in another excellent yarding.  Good quality bullocks and milk vealers were a credit to all producers on the outstanding quality runs of prime cattle.  Bullocks 255c to 295c per kg, mainly 270c to 285c per kg.  Best milk vealers 305c per kg.  Grass fed steers and heifers 230 to 284c per kg.

BULLS:  Sold at 9am Auctioneer Liam Durcan.     

Bulls sold from 210c per kg to 230c per kg to leave prices unchanged from the previous week.

1010 bullocks yarded in another large run of quality heavy weight bullocks in prime condition.  Prices lifted on beef bred bullocks topping at 295c per kg.  Dairy and manufacturing steers eased 5 to 7 cents.

910 yearlings and vealers yarded with excellent runs of prime milk vealers.  Only the best remained firm, with all secondary lots heavily discounted.  Grass fed steers and heifers improved in quality and saw a lift in prices of 5 to 7 cents per kg with steers making 285c and heifers 276c per kg, sad to say more than heifer vealers. 

Quotations:  A/c IM Ross 7 Poll Hereford heifers 256c $1356.80.  A/c KJ & CM Nobes Limousin steers 272c $1267.07 with the sisters 266c $1130.50.  A/c RI & JM Telford grass fed yearling steers 265c $1340.  A/c Nick Smith 13 Angus heifers 270c $1411.27.  A/c ND & II Chambers Angus steers 265c $1232.25.

327 cows yarded in the cow market with prices unchanged.  Best heavy beef cows 217c per kg, mainly 205c to 215c per kg.  Light and medium frame cows 130c to 195c.

Quotations: A/c CJ Frahn Hereford cows 206c $1346.36.  A/c J Croser & Sons Shorthorn cows 209c $1353.25.  A/c SR Merrett Angus cows 206c $1380.20.

SHEEP AND LAMBS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Scott Miller and Liam Durcan.  

10424 sheep sold, 3002 more than last week.  An extremely good yarding of heavy export, fresh trade and smaller fresh lambs all selling $2 to $3 throughout the sale.  The buyers gallery flexed its bidding with some great returns for vendors alike.  Best export lambs 26 to 30kg were from $196 to $215, while extra heavies at 30kg plus were $220 to $235 with all export buyers purchasing.  Heavy trades 24 to 26kg sold from $180 to $200 while the supermarket lambs from 20 to 24kg sold to enthusiastic bidding from $150 to $178.  Trade lambs 18 to 20kg sold equally well at $140 to $145.  Light trades 12 to 16kg were chased by restockers at $106 to $135.
