Glenburnie Market Report 4/9/2019

A slightly larger run of cattle this week, with 717 penned.  A much improved quality yarding of both bullocks and cows saw these classes sell at generally near firm rates.  The yearling run was again very mixed with the best trade type steers and heifers selling at easier rates.

BULLS:  Sold at 9am by Auctioneer Liam Durcan

Bulls sold to stronger demand with heavy sound bulls selling from 238-290c per kg with one exceptional bull making to 320c per kg.

BULLOCKS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Andrew Whan and Scott Miller.

A much improved yarding this week, with more weight on offer.  The best heavy steers and bullocks were firm to 10c per kg easier, while the manufacturing types (of which there were more) sold to much stronger competition to be 15-20c per kg dearer.  Bullocks 305-340c, dairy beef x steers 252-298c, Frs steers 235-290c.

Quotations:  KJ & MJ Mountford again topped the MWJ run with some quality Ang x steers 323c 617kg $1993.  Nacooma, Casterton, heavy ox 322c 693kg $1910 and Sim Frs x steers 298c 613kg $1828.  WE & TA Wallace Her Frs x steers 291c 641kg $1865.  A run of Frs steers in the MWJ run realised from 230-272c.

YOUNG CATTLE:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Peter Creek and Liam Durcan.   

A very mixed run of cattle that sold to some very mixed price trends.  Some good quality heavy heifers over 500kg came forward and these sold at firm to dearer rates of 250-298c.  The yearling steers sold at 285-310c with both trade and feedlot competition being 5-15c per kg easier.  The best yearling heifers were easier selling from 275-301c.

Quotations: Quality heavy SHN heifers A/c J Croser & Sons were a feature of the MWJ run.  The first pen 291c 555kg $1617 and the second pen 286c 500kg $1430.  A very good return.  Ang x heifers A/c Hayman Partners 297c 452kg $1343.  Quality trade steers A/c HP & SS Goodman 300c 435kg $1305.

COWS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Liam Durcan and Peter Creek.   

A much larger and improved quality run of cows this week that saw a full field of cow buyers operate.  Cows sold at fully firm rates in our run.  The best medium to heavy beef cows made 233-286c with lighter types 190-240c per kg.

Quotations: A quality run of Ang cows A/c Merna realised 265-280c, or up to $1730.  Clean fattened cows A/c JF & JL Kitschke 259-265c.  J Croser & Sons SHN cows 260c 520kg $1352.

SHEEP AND LAMBS:   Drafted & Presented by Auctioneer Scott Miller and Liam Durcan.  

93 sheep and lambs sold, 253 less than last week.  A very small yarding.  One exporter was dominant sourcing all the heavier lambs up to $177.  Trade lambs sold from $125 to $138.  Restockers provided the backbone on smaller lines of lambs from $80 to $115.  Heavy xb hgts made up to $120.

Quotations: A/c Chris Skeer & Co 23 lambs @ $177.
